The Mercedes CLK Class was a midsized, rear wheel drive convertible. Even though this car was based on the C-Class models, its style, engine, and price range are closer to that of the E-Class. In 1996, the first generation CLK was introduced to the public, approximately three years after the 1st generation (W202) C Class model was made available in the market. The launch of the CLK also marked Mercedes’ first venture into the midsized auto market. Since it is less pricey than the sporty SL-Class convertibles, the first generation of CLK cabriolet was basically the most successful convertible Mercedes-Benz ever offered, where around 40 million units were sold in the United States alone from 1999 to 2003 and more than 115,000 units were sold in the entire world. Today, a brand new first generation CLK can be hard to find since Mercedes Benz have continuously evolved their convertible cars, but for people that really want this, Used Mercedes CLK models should still be available through dealers and internet merchants around the globe, since up to this date, a lot of people still wants to have this kind of car even though they have stopped mass producing these a few years back.
